Enuresis

Enuresis

Enuresis or bedwetting is common in young children, but gets less common as children get older. Most children respond well to treatment, although they may still wet the bed from time to time.

It affects around half a million children and teenagers in the UK. It's an issue families can find very isolating and difficult to talk about openly. Growing up with bedwetting can take a huge toll on family life and affect a child's self-esteem and emotional wellbeing.

Read more about bedwetting on the NHS.uk website, including causes, treatments and when to see your GP.

ERIC is the Children's Bowel and Bladder charity in the UK. They support families affected by bedwetting, daytime wetting, constipation and soiling. Their website has useful advice for both children and parents. ERIC also has a freephone helpline on 0808 169 9949 (Monday to Thursday, 10am to 2pm) or you can email the service via a webform at www.eric.org.uk/helpline.
