Shaping a mindful future

The NHS, local authority and other leading organisations in the East Riding of Yorkshire have been working together to jointly develop a system wide mental health and dementia strategy which is fit for the region. At the heart of the strategy is the ambition to make a significant change in the way people see and experience mental ill health and dementia.

A significant amount of engagement has been undertaken with local people, carers and staff in relation to the development of the strategy and the key themes are:

  • mental wellbeing and prevention of mental ill health
  • support for people living with dementia
  • early intervention and support in the community
  • integration of support and care
  • proactive and accessible support and services
  • integration of support and care

Thank you to everyone who took the time to get involved and co-produce the strategy which is available at: adult mental health and dementia system strategy 2018-2023

You said, we did

A stakeholder event took place in June 2017 to gather thoughts and input from those in the region with a keen interest in improving local mental health services. This event was attended by a range of organisations and charities, as well as patient representation, giving a wide perspective of opinions and feedback.

This event involved a combination of presentations and workshops, the feedback from these can be found in the below documents:

Our next steps involved working with patient focus groups to gather further detailed feedback and personal stories. All of the feedback and information gathered has been used to develop the strategy for adult mental health and dementia in the East Riding of Yorkshire.

Next steps

A multi-agency steering group has been established to oversee delivery of this strategy and monitor progress.
