Shaping a mindful future – have your say on new mental health strategy for East Riding of Yorkshire

NHS East Riding of Yorkshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) and East Riding of Yorkshire Council are currently working together to develop a joint mental health strategy for the East Riding of Yorkshire.

We are now asking for patients and carers to come forward and give their views on what the gaps and priorities are for mental health services in the region. These views will be used to influence the development of the strategy.

A number of focus groups are now running across the East Riding of Yorkshire, these focus groups are for those who have experiences of mental health services across the region, whether that be dementia, common mental health (i.e. depression and anxiety) or more severe mental illness (i.e. psychosis).

We will be asking those who take part to think about what support is needed to help build their personal resilience, what support they need to manage their condition and what support they need quickly if their condition worsens. We will be asking what is working well now, what gaps there are currently in service provision and any solutions or changes they can suggest to improve mental health services in the East Riding of Yorkshire.

Space at these sessions will be limited, if you would like to attend please contact ERYCCG.ContactUs@nhs.net with your name, contact details and which area you feel your feedback will best cover; Dementia, Common Mental Health or Severe Mental Illness.

The dates and locations for these focus groups are :

  • Bridlington: Wednesday 6 September 2pm until 5pm at Bridlington Spa (Bay View Lounge).
  • Beverley: Monday 11 September 9am until 12 noon at Beverley Minster Parish Hall
  • Goole: Friday 15 September from 9am until 12noon at Goole Courtyard
  • Hornsea: Monday 9 October from 1.30pm until 4.30pm at Hornsea Town Hall

A stakeholder event has previously taken place to help in the development of this strategy; this event included a wide range of stakeholders including various NHS representatives, local authority and voluntary/community sector.
