Additional recycling centres to benefit East Riding patients

NHS East Riding of Yorkshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), working with FCC Environment,  NRS Healthcare and East Riding of Yorkshire Council, has commissioned three additional recycling centres to offer local people more convenience when returning unwanted healthcare equipment for refurbish and recycle.

The new service begins Tuesday 1 August 2017 for a trial period, with centres located at

Carnaby Household Waste Recycling Centre
Moor Lane
Carnaby
Bridlington
YO16 4UU

Withernsea Household Waste Recycling Centre
Hull Road
Withernsea
HU19 2EE

Humberfied Reuse Centre
Ferriby Road
Hessle
HU13 0JE

Opening hours for the centres will be Monday to Sunday 10am to 5.00pm.

Sally Smith, Clinical Commissioning Lead, East Riding of Yorkshire CCG said:

NRS Healthcare is committed to recycling with a good record of recovering and reissuing equipment of around 95% overall of care equipment items.  Previously some smaller items were not recycled as the costs of collection and cleaning is higher than the cost of replacement. The introduction of three new recycling centres is fantastic news, providing a more convenient way for people to dispose of smaller healthcare items they no longer use, for refurbish and recycle.”

“FCC Environment is a leader in re-use in the UK and we are delighted to be working in partnership with the NHS East Riding of Yorkshire CCG, NRS Healthcare and East Riding of Yorkshire Council to deliver three new recycling centres in the area “ commented FCC Environment Contract Manager Cassie Hart. “Like our partners, we are committed to making the best use of resources and we are confident that these new drop off points at the Household Waste Recycling Centres for unwanted healthcare equipment will be welcomed by the community.”
